While the
ceiling might not be the first thing you think of when planning custom home
construction, the right ceiling design can make a beautiful statement.
Today, you have many different options to choose from among ceiling designs.
The
standard option is a conventional ceiling, which may have a textured or a flat
appearance. While standard ceilings are often 8 feet in height, a custom home
may feature a ceiling that is at least 9 feet in height. If you are interested
in an option other than a standard ceiling, you might consider a cathedral or
vaulted ceiling.
A cathedral ceiling
features a high sloping line, while a vaulted ceiling actually extends the room
in an upward manner. Both options can make a room feel larger. Tray ceilings
have also become quite popular today in custom
home construction. This type of ceiling features a cut out that looks like
a tray. The tray may be raised or dropped, depending upon your preferences.
Decorative lights or mouldings may also be incorporated in a tray ceiling.
Paint can also be used in order to accentuate the look of a tray ceiling. This
type of ceiling is most commonly used in master bedrooms and dining rooms.
