Which Type of Ceiling is Right for your New Custom Home?

While the ceiling might not be the first thing you think of when planning custom home construction, the right ceiling design can make a beautiful statement. Today, you have many different options to choose from among ceiling designs.

The standard option is a conventional ceiling, which may have a textured or a flat appearance. While standard ceilings are often 8 feet in height, a custom home may feature a ceiling that is at least 9 feet in height. If you are interested in an option other than a standard ceiling, you might consider a cathedral or vaulted ceiling.

A cathedral ceiling features a high sloping line, while a vaulted ceiling actually extends the room in an upward manner. Both options can make a room feel larger. Tray ceilings have also become quite popular today in custom home construction. This type of ceiling features a cut out that looks like a tray. The tray may be raised or dropped, depending upon your preferences. Decorative lights or mouldings may also be incorporated in a tray ceiling. Paint can also be used in order to accentuate the look of a tray ceiling. This type of ceiling is most commonly used in master bedrooms and dining rooms.
