A Look at Custom Home Designs for 2014

Considering building a new home in 2014? If so, you may be interested in some of the latest custom home trends that are likely to grace homes built in the coming months.

One of the most popular trends that many custom home builders in Austin have been reporting is the request for eco-friendly cabinets. The use of sustainable materials is nothing new to Austin homeowners. In the coming months; however, there will be an increasing move toward earth-friendly cabinets that are constructed without formaldehyde. This trend, in part, stems from clients with chemical sensitivity.

Although trends last year tended more toward contemporary design, custom home construction this year will often focus on more relaxed and classic designs. As part of that trend toward traditional design, many homes will now feature dual-sided fireplaces. While temperatures around Georgetown do not often get low enough to actually require a fireplace, a dual-sided fireplace is a great way to create an open feel to adjoining spaces. During those rare days when the temps do drop, a dual-sided fireplace is also a wonderful way warm up multiple rooms.
